I want to repeat that I didn't have such a problem before downloading the iOS 10.0.1l could take screen shots. I did it  a few times. The problem appeared when I downloaded the iOS 10.0.1 Maybe some iPhone 6 have that problem. All the times pressing and holding the sleep button together with the start button the volume control appears. I don't know where is the fault.

The Sleep/Wake button is the single button on the right side.

The Home button is on front bottom.

Make sure you are not pressing the volume buttons on the left side.

Please if somebody from Apple Inc. reads the comments/questions/problems concerning Apple products I would like to propose for a new version of iOS after 10.0.2 due to continuous problems that appear in the user's effort for taking screen shots. The problem appeared after the release of iOS 10.0.1 in the iPhone 6. Thank you.

Apple does not read these forums, and there is no problem with 10.0.2. There is a problem with YOUR PHONE. Not mine, not 200 million others. Take it to an Apple store and they will help you with the problem with YOUR PHONE.

I had the same problem and resolved it by pressing the sleep button then pushing the home button and releasing both as fast as possible.  It seems the timing important.  I didn't used to have to be so quick on the release.
Please post is tis helps or not.  I hope it does.
