Q: gps not working properly after iOS 9.3 update

Hi all.

After updating to iOS 9.3 my GPS cannot find my exact location. It keeps telling me I am in a big area, (Triangulating) seems like it does not activate the GPS.

Sometimes very little it works and give me the correct position, but 97% of the time its not working. Anyone else with the same problem?

Besides that: A hot phone & bad WIFI

My guess is that its a certain type or generation of hardware that went into a series of iPhones that is not playing well with later versions of iOS and third party apps, such as Waze.  When I took my phone to Apple, they ran diagnostics--hardware was "fine" issue was shown to be software.

    Yep, me too.

GPS/Location issues & Poor Wifi connection after Apple update.

Tried everything. Hard reset, factory reset, restoration via iTunes & icloud. I've been into Apple stores and had diagnostic checks. Despite nothing being found, I pointed out to Apple Care today over the phone that I don't see why I should have to pay for repairs (New phone) after it was Apple's update that caused this issue. Well, words can not described how less than bothered the Apple rep was. He was even less bothered when I said I  was thinking of leaving Apple because of this (Drop in the ocean I know). I even pointed out this very forum topic and the thousands of people experience in this.. again, just not bothered.

Months of problems, countless visits to Apple stores and loads of extra data burnage after wifi has failed.. and nothing.  No advice that's worked, no assistance from Apple and few months left on contract. Really.. I think it's  time to change device brands. Apple just aren't bothered about this one, people.

I'm having the exact same problem. Mine started after the most recent update. I've also tried all the suggested fixes (e.g. System restore, factory settings) but nothing worked. I've taken the phone to the Genius Bar twice - I've been told it's a hardware issue and that I need to pay $300.

Fortunately, I think I've found the solution - it's called the Samsung Galaxy S7 upgrade. Call your local phone provider, they'll get you set up.

I had this same problem too. I followed the suggestion of others by replacing the wifi/gps antenna at a third party vendor - so far so good. It seems to have fixed the problem.

It was suggested that the antenna was a different generation and that one of the recent updates fried something. My phone was not under warranty and I sure as **** was not going to pay $300 to fix something that was likely the result of a software update. A new antenna was $4.88 from Amazon, . After three visits to the Genius Bar and no solutions offered (other than me paying lots of cash)  this will be the LAST iPhone me or my family will own for a very long time. Working with Apple on this has been a nightmare.

I'm not sure if this information will help people who are experiencing this GPS issue, but hopefully it provides some useful info to help troubleshoot the problem.

I have a white iPhone 6 and my wife has a black iPhone 6, both purchased in Oct 2014.  My phone has been fine but my wife's phone's GPS stopped working, exhibiting the same problems that most people have mentioned on this thread. I contacted Apple support and also brought it to the Genius Bar, only to be offered a replacement phone for $299.

In conducting further troubleshooting myself, I noticed that if I launched the Compass on both phones and put them down next to each other on a table, the white phone would go into calibration mode after a few seconds but the black phone would not.  Plus, the Compass coordinates would be different.  I checked all Compass settings and they were identical.

As my wife relies heavily on GPS for her commute, I backed up both phones and swapped them out, so now I have the black phone and my wife has my white phone.  (We're both on iOS 10.0.2.)

The result of the swap?  The black phone continues to have GPS problems while the white phone is fine. The issue stems from the device, as I was thinking it was possible that there was some incompatible app causing a glitch that might be responsible for the GPS issue.

HHailing updated to iOS 10.0.2 (and possibly an earlier iOS 10.x install), the gps has stopped functionin.  It locates where I a but then doesn't move when I am driving, etc.  I'm not sure if this is a bug in the iOS update as it seems a bit of a coincidence that it has stopped since the new iOS was introduced.

Apple is not reading here. Please stop shouting at us, your fellow users.

If yo want Apple to do something about your issue, you'll have either take the phone to your nearest Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service provider or send the phone to Apple for evaluation.

I have the very same problem in my iPhone 4S with iOS 9.3.5. Still, Isn't there a solution for this problem since the problem is persistant since a long time? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
