Q: iPhone7 - Home button - Freeze

Hi all,

I'm using a iphone 7 (black 128GB), iOS 10.0.1

I'm not able to reproduce it but it happened twice. The home button stops responding. I feel the taptic click but nothing responds. Also all the other "hardware" button dont respond. (the power button, mute of volume up /down) after a couple minutes I see all the actions I did ( pressing the home, mute vol up ect) and then the phone responds again.

(The screen keeps responding all the time when the other button don't)

I setup my iphone 7 as a new Iphone.

iPhone 7, iOS 10

Same exact thing here - I've seen it 3 times now since getting my 7 Plus last week. It's all buttons on the phone - the lock switch and volume buttons don't work either, it's like a total input lockout. I get the taptic click on the home button but nothing actually happens. Once was on the lock screen, once was in Camera, and once was in a game (Starforce Reloaded).

Iphone 7 Plus 128gb. Updated to IOS 10, installed as new phone.

Home button freezes occur randomly during the day but always after an action like:

    Starting an app
    In mail account

Most of the time when i wake up the phone by tabbing the home button from the idle screen. I feel the button response but nothing happens, during this time volume button is responsive and works.
Also when it happens in an app i'm still able to use the specific page i'm working in.
Also the screen rotation keeps functioning. So it's not completely unresponsive.
After a while (sometimes minutes) it picks up and works normally.

Since more people seem to have the problem i'm not worried yet. I think it's a software bug like a cache or memory management problem.

(Excuse me for my bad English ;-))

So glad to find this thread!! I've had the following happen on two different iPhone 7's

1 - When locked, I clicked the home button. It gave me haptic a but screen stayed off. On second click it was fine. This has happened twice.

2 - When locked, same thing as above except power button was used so no haptic of course but took another click to wake screen.

3 - When locked, clicked power button. Screen came on for a split second then went off. Second try was fine.

I am on 10.0.2. I've tried hard reset but pretty sure that doesn't fix it.

Let me know your thoughts. If not for 2 phones, diff buttons, and you guys I'd suspect hardware ... but thinking iOS

Hi guys, the problem is no longer presented after upgrading to iPhone OS 10.0.2 made by recovery in DFU. For now I have not tried to get the power saving mode. Sorry for my bad english :/

I'm having the same issue (iPhone 7 128GB iOS 10.0.2) where all the buttons are non-responsive and I feel the taptic feedback on the home button, but no actions are taken even though I can still use the app I'm in...few minutes later it floods all of the button actions.

Don't feel like wasting and afternoon in the Apple store for them to say well it's not happening now and I'm a genius so it must be user error.

This is clearly a hardware/software issue that should be addressed in an iOS update, unless they're going to pay me for 1-2hrs of my time to go down to the Apple Store.

How is your answer the preferred answer? You don't provide any solution other than go to the Apple Store.

I had the same issue with my iPhone 7 Plus running 10.0.2 yesterday and today.  Glad to hear I am not the only one.

Happened today on my iPhone 7 128gb as well. Exactly as described by the other users.

Yepp, same here. Been searching for a solution. Happened to me and my girlfriend, both on new iPhone 7. All hardware buttons stop functioning for a few minutes, then all presses register at once and it goes back to normal.. Since it happened on both our phones I thought it was quite widespread.

Seems like the common theme here is that everyone has a iPhone 7 128gb. Specifically mines black, not jet black.

Is anyone seeing this issue outside of this model? Anybody with Plus or a 32/256gb seeing this issue?

I'm seeing exactly the same behavior as the other posts in this thread. iPhone 7 128GB black. This happened twice to me on the lock screen. The screen functions but none of the hardware buttons have any effect. The first time the phone became responsive again after a couple minutes. This time I restarted with the sleep/wake button and volume down buttons as described in earlier posts. After restarting, the hardware buttons worked again.

    Hey Guys,

A question to you all. Do you also have a TECH24 iphone case, or similar case. I noticed there is a constant pressure on the on/off button, may be it's a case development mistake. When i release this pressure, it seems the problem is over.

    Please respond......

Oh interesting, I do have a Tech21 case that I bought at the apple store when I picked up my phone. The case is sold on Apple's website here: http://www.apple.com/shop/product/HKGW2ZM/A/tech21-evo-mesh-case-for-iphone-7?fn ode=99

However, removing the case does not resolve the problem for me (actually both times I tried removing the case to check that the buttons weren't stuck or anything). I still had to wait about 2 minutes for the buttons to start working again (first time) and reboot the phone (second time).
