Q: Siri is disabled by Parental Controls on macOS Sierra admin account

I just installed macOS Sierra today on my 13" Mac Book Pro (early 2011). I only have one user account, which is an administrator account. Siri is not enabled on my machine. When I go to the Siri screen of the Systems Preferences, it states that "Siri is disabled by Parental Controls". Hmmm, when I check the Parental Controls screen, it says "You logged in using an administrator account. You can only apply parental controls to accounts that aren't administrator accounts."

What's going on here?

Same problem here. Updated to Sierra from El Capitan on MacBookPro 15" (mid 2014).

Even if I toggle the checkbox on Parental Controls > Other > Turn off Siri & Dictation I can’t enable Siri, the checkox is always grey and the alert says “Siri is disabled by Parental Controls”.

Siri is enabled if I login as a Gust, but I need it on my Admin account obviously. Very annoying.

I have this exact same issue with Siri on macOS Sierra. I have no other profile on my computer except the administrator profile. Same problem if I go in to Keyboard dictation settings. Zero parental controls in place, yet...

    Problem solved for me!

    1. Go to 'System Preferences - Users & Groups' and temporarily create a new profile with administrator privileges.

    2. Login in to the new profile.

    3. In the new profile go to 'System Preferences - Users & Groups', type in administrator password for the new account and remove the tick on 'Parental Control' for the original account.

    4. Log out of new profile and back in to original account, check Siri is working and box is ticked within Siri.

    5. Go back to 'Users & Groups' and delete the temporary new account.

Tried and tested on MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012)

Anyone having a solution for this?

When I click Siri in the menu bar  I get the message "You do not have permission to use Siri (for more information, contact the person who set up your account)". I have the same symptoms as described above.

Siri works on another (admin) account but not on the main (also admin) account. I have no Parental Controls enabled. I'm also using a MacBook Pro 2011 edition.

Apologies but I didn't read the chain of responses properly. HarriPW's solution also worked for me.
