Q: iPhone 6s plus wifi disconnect after locking

I recently bought iphone 6s+ and running iOS 9.2.1..Whenever I lock (sleep) my iPhone, wifi automatically disconnects and when I unlock or press power button,it automatically connects..I dont think it is any kind of feature bcoz I am having delayed notifications due to this from apps like whatsapp, gmail etc..

Is it normal behaviour from iphone?

Android have 'keep wifi during sleep' option..I am missing that badly :(

Please help anyone..

P.S. battery saver mode is off..background app refreshing is on for all apps..I even tried reset all settings and network settings..what should I do?

On various forums,I also saw answers like 'this is expected behavior' or 'iPhones are like this only'..but thats not the case..maybe it switch to low energy consumption mode..or any other mode..but it remains CONNECTED..ALWAYS

NO. People don't wanna admit that the problem is the ROUTER and not the iPhone. That's why you see always the same answers.

Yes true..So..people who are having this problem, try changing your router setting..or if you consider that this is expected behavior, try connecting your iPhone to any android hotspot and see if your wifi disconnects or not..you will get the answers

This little tweak in the settings solved my problem.

Go to Settings --> Select Wi-Fi--> Select the "i" of the wifi network you are connected to --> Select DNS---> Change the DNS to 8.8.8.8

8.8.8.8 is the default DNS of google.

Hope this works fine for you too. Cheers!

I had the same problem. What solved it for me was disabling "Wifi Assist" in Settings -> Cellular. Wifi Assist is supposed to improve Internet connectivity by switching to cellular data when on a weak wifi: About Wi-Fi Assist - Apple Support

Well, after some further testing I had to conclude that turning off "Wifi Assist" doesn't help. Meh. Still stuck with this problem. Switching to a fixed wifi channel didn't help. It's a 5 GHz wifi by the way, from a Verizon Jetpack Mifi router.

Recently, I had upgrade to 10.0.2 but my wifi disconnect when I lock the screen. Though I have been tried all the solutions apple proposes; I even reset my network many times this may solve the problem for day or two but after that the same problem appears again!!!

Unless you have the phone plugged in to a power source, that's exactly what it's supposed to do.

    Abosolutely not true.

    It's a router problem.

I had a router ADB and my iPhone stays ALWAYS connected to wifi even after 20 hours in standby.

Then I changed router and iPhone disconnect wifi after 2 minutes in standby.

Now I've an Airport Express and my 2 iPhones and my iPad stay ALWAYS connected to wifi.

    It's a router problem!

Believe whatever you like. It doesn't change reality.
