Q: iPad Air 2 - WiFi but no Internet Connection [BT Smart Hub]

Since updating to iOS10 last night, my iPad Air 2 won't get an internet connection to my new BT Smart Hub.

All my other devices (iPhone 6, 6s, laptop, iPad mini, etc.) are all working fine.

Things done so far:

Reset the router

Restored the iPad both as a backup and as a new device

Reset network settings, including lease

The hub is definitely picking up the iPad, but it won't give it an internet connection. There is no VPN software that I know of on the iPad.

If I connect the iPad to another device (i.e. to my phone on a hotspot) then the internet works fine.

Spoke with BT and they said they can see no issues and as all my other devices are working then there must be something wrong with the iPad settings. :/

Clicking on the next to my wireless connection, it looks like the router isn't giving any info back the iPad (i.e. there is no IP, Subnet, Router, DNS, etc info).

At a total loss as to what to do next - this is my main iPad sunk in the wall to control the house so it kind of needs to work!

Just to say I had exactly the same issue and was able to just reset the homehub to factory settings and now the IPAD works perfectly with IOS 10 installed. Clearly an issue with BT not Apple.

So you can still use the new smart Hub and have IOS 10 working perfectly on the IPAD without trying to force a static IP.

I have had this problem since updating my i  Pad air 2 to IOS 10.0.2, everything was fine before then. it had me puzzled for a couple of days but i have just gone into my BT Smart Hub manager and changed the wireless mode from "Mode 1" to "Mode 2"

this appears to have done the trick

Likewise, same problem but with my iPhone 5 on a Home Hub 6. I tried the static IP address solution, which works, but on seeing this post thought I'd try changing the wireless mode from "Mode 1" to "Mode 2". Problem solved!!

It really isn't necessary to set up a static IP; I found that resetting the Smart Hub to factory defaults & setting it up as if it were new solved all my iPad wifi issues. It doesn't take long.

Thanks. That worked for me. The factory reset sorted out the issue.

Is there no other fix than to go back to HH5?

Static IP not working for me.

Weirdly as well if I connect to the BT-WIFI-FON option I get a connection and it works.

I had this. Connected to my wifi, but no internet and no wifi icon in the top left of the iPad screen. I have a BT Smart Hub, and my iPad is using ios10. When I logged into my router I saw that the smart hub had allocated my iPad the same IP address as my Apple TV. Both were meant to be using DHCP, so it shouldn't have happened.

The fix was to disconnect the iPad from the wifi. Then, in the smart hub, select the iPad connection and change it to a static IP address (picking one which is available). Then reconnect the iPad to the wifi and it will start working. The iPad wifi connection page still shows it as being on DHCP but the router is forcing a static IP.

I assume this is BT smart hub fault.
