Woke up to "bricked" iPhone 7 Plus, Genius said Facebook app caused issue?
Hello. I woke up this morning to a bricked iPhone 7 Plus. Went to bed working fine. Only recent changes to it was iOS 10.1 which I installed on October 27th, phone was working almost 2 days fine. Wouldn't turn on at all this morning. Then started displaying Apple logo, then the loading bar would show, corrupted looking, and it would just repeat the process, not turning on.
Googled for help, and tried the "restore" iPhone option via iTunes with iPhone plugged in doing a hard reset. The iPhone displayed the restore option, telling me to plug into iTunes. iTunes would NOT pop up the restore option. So Apple.com said to take to a genius bar.
Got back from Genius bar. He was able to re-set my iPhone 7 Plus to factory default settings. Thank god I backed-up when iOS 10.1 was released. Restored and is working now.
My question is, the guy at the genius bar said it was the Facebook app on the actual phone. Is this true? Facebook had an iPhone update October 20, 2016 & everything was working fine. On the other hand, Facebook Messenger had an update as well, but this was October 27, 2016. 2 days ago. My phone was bricked this morning. I am still unclear why. Was it the Facebook app? Genius bar guy said to delete the Facebook app until I hear something. But I haven't even heard of this issue at all recently. Google searches produce no information.
Was just wondering what happened so this doesn't happen again.
Thanks.
