Apple pencil wouldn't pair with ipad pro

hi

I have my apple pencil since around 1 year. And i have paired it with my ipad pro previously.

SInce 5 months I have stoped using it and was stored properly. Now I tried using it, it gave me a message on the ipad that the battery is only 3 %.

I Charged the pencil, but still didnt work. I unpaired it and again tried to pair it , but coudnt ..

I have tried everything mentioned here to fix the problem: even conducted a hard reset thru itunes, but still no response.. also tried tightening the tip...

my operating system is ios 10.2.1

do you think that the problem is generated from updating my ios?

the pencil was not used alot. And stored in its box. So Iam certain no phisical damage was done to it.

please help

iPad Pro Wi-Fi + Cellular, iOS 10.2.1, Apple pencil

Thanks for responding.

I checked the article, and all bases are covered.

after inserting the pencil, i receive a message to pair, then it shows connected for 2 seconds, then again not connected.

then after a while, i receive the message: check that your pencil is in range and 'on' and ready to pair !!!

Even the battery widget does not appear in notifications , i tried adding it by the plus sign in 'edit'.

I Have tried : forgetting the pencil and re pairing. Still the same .

my question is: do you think that updating my ios to 10.2.1 is affecting the pair process and the battery widget?

thanks

I am so disgusted with Apple . Here is their reply to me to help fix the problem. How freaking unfair and not user friendly is this:

Let's see if you are having a settings conflict with the update.

Before doing any more troubleshooting steps, please make sure to back up your device so that your information will be safe. This article explains how to do that: http://apple.co/1QbHq1x

After you have a backup, the next step we’d like you to try is resetting all of your device settings back to their original state. Keep in mind this will revert all settings that you've customized or changed (including things like your Wallpaper and alarms). This means you may need to reconfigure some of those settings including network settings (so be sure you have your Wi-Fi password handy).

When you’re ready, just go to Settings > General > Reset and choose "Reset All Settings."

Let us know if the issue's still happening after the reset.

Looks to me like Apple is trying to help solve your Apple Pencil issue to my own eyes.

This may have been one of the troublshooting solutions I would’ve had you try.

Did you even try this?

You never know.

Not everyone’s Apple iPad/Pencil issues are the same.

I would’ve tried this.

Good Luck to You!

same issue here. my old roommate bought an iPad pro and apple pencil about 2 years ago, but ended up returning the iPad because it was too big. the pencil has sat in its box (still shrink-wrapped) ever since. i bought a 10.5" iPad pro today and tried to connect the pencil. it shows up as 'connected' under my blue tooth devices for ~2 seconds and then reverts to 'not connected.' i have since left the pencil plugged into a wall outlet for well over an hour and cannot get any different results. i'm thinking this is some sort of charging issue, but who knows..? if anyone has a fix for this, please let us know!

If the Pencil sat in a box with no charge for a year, the rechargeable li-ion battery inside of the Pencil has, probably, been totally discharge for quite some time and has failed.

You will need to purchase a new Pencil and keep this one regularly charged up.

Same exact story.... not used for a year. 2 years old.

Long story short, went to Apple Store, their new pencil paired quickly even when every device in that store was was emitting Bluetooth signals... it was at a very busy holiday time. So too many Bluetooth devices around was not the problem as one suggested.

Only resolve was was to buy a new one from the Genuis Bar for $79... with a 90 day warranty... or buy a new one for $99 with a year warranty from the floor.

I was not happy. And they are no repairable without destroying it.

Thank you Apple for the White Elephant gift idea....

This is just one of the reasons, I have NEVER liked the Apple Pencil.

If you have the 1st gen iPad Pro OR the 9.7 inch screen iPad Pro models. I use and honestly recommend THIS smart, Bluetooth stylus over the Apple Pencil.

For the newest 2nd gen iPad Pro models, purchase this one from Adonit.

http://www.adonit.net/pixel-pro/

The screen technology is different in the 2nd gen iPad Pro models and the Original Adonit Pixel stopped working with the newest, 2nd gen models.

The newest Adonit Pixel Pro models have been redesigned and new firmware updated to JUST work with ONLY all of the entire iPad Pro (1st AND 2nd gen) lineup, exclusively.

The Adonit Pixel and Pixel Pro are the ONLY stylii I can seriously and honestly recommend as they work without issues on the iPad Pro lineup with every supported drawing app I have.

Good Luck to You!

I’m an Astropad Standard user and Astropad Standard supports all third party stylii.

I believe Astropad Pro ONLY supports the Apple Pencil, alone!

Contact Astropad to see if they have opened up the Pro, subscription version to any other third party stylii.

This is one of the many reasons I had to stay using the Standard version of Astropad.

Again, Good Luck!

Thank you for all the info! I did the Astropad Pro trial with my non Bluetooth styluses... loved it, so I was done charged for the year. I just want a stylus with more pressure sensitivity to get those thick and thin strokes in Illustrator and Photoshop when needed. I feel like when I have my Bluetooth on, my head feels weird and I get angry... weird? yes. I will investigate list options on their site..

BT has a range of about 50 feet. If you are anywhere that there a groups of people within that range, it is likely that many of them have BT enabled on their devices. So, yes, it's unlikely that BT is the cause of your issue. Could using a stylus you're having problems with cause you to be angry? Absolutely.

The ONLY way to get thick/thin/light dark strokes in drawing apps, using the iPad Pro, is either with the Apple Pencil OR another third party Bluetooth, “smart” stylus.

The Bluetooth is used both to detect the pressure on the screen AND also for the drawing app to recognise the use of a Bluetooth stylus to enable palm rejection within the app.

So, you need to be using a Bluetooth stylus.

Adonit is the ONLY Bluetooth stylus that has been STILL working well for me on my iPad Pro.

Stay FAR AWAY from ANY Wacom smart Bluetooth stylus that claim to work with the iPad Pro.

Wacom’s mobile tablet stylii are a horrible fail on the iPad Pro!

Tried to use one for about a month. Wacom sent me two other units during that month, all three were a total fail, in terms of getting good pen sensitivity and dynamics between light/dark/thick/thin lines and the line jitter when drawing slow or drawing diagonal line was horrible!

Adonit's Bluetooth stylii have never given me such problems and I have been using Adonit Bluetooth stylii for over 3 years, now!

Good Luck to You!
