Currently Being ModeratedSep 28, 2006 5:40 AM (in response to Udder)I fixed this by actually doing what the error message said to do initially, load the CD that came with the iPod. This let me use the iPod updater separate from iTunes 7 to make the iPod formatted for PC.
Everything works fine now.PowerBook G4 Ti 867, Mac OS X (10.3.5)

That will restore the iPod then hopefully iTunes will see it and then update it for iTunes 7.MBP 183 Ghz, 1GB RAM, Mac OS X (10.4.7)
