iPad Pro Smart Keyboard

since upgrading to iOS 10 my smart keyboard is not being recognized by my iPad Pro, when I connect it a message comes up saying "this accessory is not supported by this device". I have already reset my iPad to factory using my macbook but it made no difference. Anyone got any Ideas? It seems a few people having issues with Smart Keyboard since the upgrade to 10 but cannot find anyone else posting it isn't supported/working at all?

thanks

Got the same problem and will bring it to the Apple store. The Smart Keyboard works intermittently and getting harder and harder to get the connection (with the error message "this accessory is not supported by this device") Very frustrating as I use the iPad Pro for note taking for my work.

I finally took my Smart Keyboard into the Apple store today and couldn’t replicate the problems. The store wouldn’t do anything about the keyboard and acted like the problem is misterious even after showing the problem on the Apple Forum. He said if the problem happened while I was in the store he would offer new keyboard at half price. Not fair for a problem that they were aware of.

I'm having the EXACT SAME issue - in different Apps, different times, but always occurs after sleeping device or detaching keyboard and then reattaching. I end up having to click and re-click and click again to the POGO Ports and eventually, after 4 or 5 iterations of this, the iPad Pro finally acknowledges the keyboard.

This happened occasionally under iOS9 but after upgrade to iOS10, it happens everyday, throughout the day. The "This Accesory is Not Supported" error message I only started receiving after the iOS10 upgrade...

After speaking to Apple online support they advised me to take it into one of their service centres where they took it away and after 3 days fixed it, I think the problem is with the keyboards themselves. If you have an Apple keyboard would suggest you take it in to be looked at as it is a problem they recognise. Mine was fixed for free as within 1 year warranty and now works perfectly.

The same problem occurred (and continues) after the "upgrade" to iOS 10.1 and later. The "accessory not supported" (ironic since its an Apple OEM kb) occurs after a sleep cycle or detaching the kb itself. Its inexcusable that Apple do not appear to have a Help topic on this - and users are effectively doing product support via this forum for them. No wonder they're going backwards. Only fix I've seen suggested is to go to a store for a replacement on the keyboard. However it seems unlikely to me that a KB that was working prior to the update is the issue. Its more likely awaiting a bug fix.

Same issue here. I went to Apple Store twice. First time, Tech couldn't reproduce problems at all. This morning, Keyboard stop working all together. I tried cold reboots etc and nothing work. So I just went to the Apple store again.

Tech want to complete wipe my iPad Pro and reinstall to OS to eliminate software issue. I request that we tried a different keyboard with my iPad. The other keyboard worked fine. While mine is very intermittence. It works a bit and stop working.

Tech is still not too convinced. He still want to do a full OS wipe.

But after some more convincing, he did do retail swap for me on the spot. I'm typing on the new keyboard right now and so far so good.

Big thumb up for Apple support.

One thing that I learn from this experience that I should also try clean OS wipe to eliminate software issue angle.

Athough from what I've seen so far, it appears to be a hardware problem. It looks like the handshake/authentication failed with my old keyboard. Perhaps the chip inside the old keyboard or connection have some intermittence problem.
