I just updated iTunes to version 7.0.1.8 and now all my songs skip when they are playing. It makes it totally unenjoyable, please help!

My songs in iTunes randomly skip at any point while the song is playing. This started only after I upgraded to itunes 7. Is there a solution? Should we just all download our old versions again??

    Help?

I wish that was possible. Itunes 7 runs horribly. I bought a video post-7 and it skips so bad its rediculous.

The fix that worked for 2 of my computers for this crappy version of iTunes was this...

Go to Start -> Run and type in "dxdiag"
    Click the "Sound" tab
There will be a slider that says, "Hardware Sound Acceleration Level" which probably is turned all the way up. Take it down about 2 notches, click okay and restart iTunes.

Like I said, this worked for me but you SHOULD NOT have to change your system settings to be compatible with a vendor software update (and a horrible one at that).

If that doesn't work, burn your songs to a CD and switch to another player that has a better QA.

What does this actually do? I mean, what am I messing with? It's safe? Will it effect anything else on my computer?
I'm not as computer literate as some.. :-P
    Thanks

    Try this...

In your Control Panel, select Add/Remove Programs. Scroll down and select iTunes, then click Change, Repair.

This seems to have eliminated the skipping for me, at least so far.
