Hi There

I have just got FCE and I am trying to import iMovie projects to cut them together. Unfortunately I am having trouble with Audio. Ive had a good search around but at the moment cant find an answer to my problem...

It loads fine and when i view the clips in the viewer they play fine, including the audio but when I set the in and out points and drag it onto the canvas and try to play the timeline the audio is missing and all i get are regular beeps on the two audio channels.

If I turn on waveforms on the timeline then it produces the audio waveform, but I cannot get it to produce the audio on the movie playback.

Have I missed something?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Hi, I'm also fairly new to FCE.

I believe the problems you are experiencing may be due to FCE not supporting mp3 audio files. iMovie works fine with this format but FCE is a step up the pro / semi-pro ladder.

Try converting your audio files or soundtracks to .aiff format either in iTunes or another audio app.

You will probably find that if you render the audio it will be OK.

Select the audio and press ⌥ R

    It WILL work!

If the audio is in 12Bit the only problem will probably be loss of sync.

I did the same as you the first time I used FCE. Captured in iMovie then edited in FCE. The beeping means you need to render the audio. Once rendered it will play back fine.
