The last laptop I was asked to fix would not show the startup folder with the question mark. Turns out they had the screen brightness turned up so high that they could not see the startup screen. Adjust your brightness control and see if the screen shows what is happening.
If you see the question mark, that means that the computer cannot find a startup disk. If you do not have a startup floppy or CD, you will need to buy one or make one. What do you have to work with?

Mar 8, 2007 5:47 PM in response to Appaloosa mac manby apr34,well I have been trying several bootable sources including another Hard Disk, norton utilities, Mac OS 9 cd and a few I have burnt off of classic on my PowerBook G4 Titanium
