My refurbished 15" MacBook Pro emits a very high-pitched almost buzzing sound. Anyone know why this is?

Is it coming from the grill of the left speaker right where the Mag-safe goes in? If so, then I am almost sure you have the "whine." You can send it into Apple though, and they will replace the Main Logic Board. This seems to cure it for most people.

Another possibility may be that it is a bad inverter which I beleive has something to do with the lcd. I am not as familiar about this problem. Does the noise get louder with brightness, and lower with dimness? Maybe try this to see if this makes a difference.

Yeah. That is the best thing to do. It should about be a 48 hour fix. They are fast when it is a known issue.

99% it is the inverter board. I had it changed by Apple and the machine became super silent.
