The next line in is bit odd as well.
It suggest a Printer is active.
In fact it looks like higher up that a grachics app is active as well.
I would suggest running ichat on it's Own to see if it is a busy Processor thing.

Currently Being ModeratedApr 2, 2007 12:12 PM (in response to Ralph Johns (UK))Yes Ralph,
Think I was a little to enthiousiastic, I tried to overwrite the "empty" space
on my harddisk with the zero option in disk utilities but the suspect error is still there. Need to have a closer look cause I certainly don't have a solution yet. But this seems to be happening:
The Finder uses Launch Services and can open incompatible files that have
a MIME identifier that somehow is not supported by the current OSX.
Looks to me it's the first admin's buddy picture that is causing an error because
it is encoded in an unsupported (or rather Classic) format.

Currently Being ModeratedApr 2, 2007 1:06 PM (in response to Ralph Johns (UK))I have these ports open in the System Preferences -> sharing -> Firewall. I also have port 443 open in iChat.
I suppose that if I have these ports open within the laptop settings, I should disable the UPnP on the router. Is that a safe assumption?MacBook, Mac OS X (10.4.9)
If you are going to use the Mac firewall then set them as my page 4
Leave UPnP on the Modem.

I have sold this technology based on the idea "it just works".
I have used this technology, it just works.
One day, about 4 weeks ago, it quit working. About the same time the 10.4.9 upgrade came out.
I've been working in & with software since 1979.
When something breaks, quits working, is fubar, etc., the first thing one checks is what changed.
I did a software upgrade, as did many people on the list.
We did not change any router settings.
It worked before. It does not work now. The only thing I am aware of changing is OS X.
It's possible Comcast started blocking ports, but i can't imagine they want to generate unnecessary calls.
Again, the key point: It was working before, why is it not working now?
Thanks in advance!MacBook, Mac OS X (10.4.9)
Yes you may get someting more with the Combo update.
The Delta 10.4.9 will only contain the bits from 10.4.8 to 10.4.9
The combo will contain everything that has been updated since 10.4 base to 10.4.9
It is not unusual to get quirks or changes like this at OS updates. Some sample 10.4.6 ones
Some people have found success just by restarting their modem or router.
Personally I did nothing this morning but the Sun came up.
Yesterday I also did nothing but I could not see it.
Ergo things change whether you do anything or not.

ok, no changes to nothin' & it starts working again.
thanks for the assistance.
i stumbled across Ralph's web page.
was it Arthur C. Clarke who suggested that any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinquishable from magic?
We'll be in touch I'm sure!
Thanks for your time!MacBook, Mac OS X (10.4.9)
