have started having problems trying to get my mac book pro to sleep. have tried resetting pram, PMU and running tech tool pro etc all with no avail
syptoms are that when I shut the screen you can hear the hard drive still running and the optical drive make a noise every ten seconds or so and the light by the lid button doesn't go into it's normal dimming and brightning cycle but just stays fully on. If I try to put it to sllep with the lid open it will go to sleep for a few sconds and then wake up again
Any ideas

Will it sleep if you use a Safe Mode boot…

… ? If it does then you have something launching at boot time which is stopping your system from sleeping like a system addition or startup application.

Firstly, try disabling some login items to see if they're the cause. Failing that, what in the folder…
