Q: Printing to Xerox WorkCentre 7655 From Mac OS 10.4.9

I have a 1.5 GHz PowerBook G4 (1 GB RAM) and upgraded to Mac OS X (10.4.9) a couple of days ago. My printer (Xerox WorkCentre 7655, attached through Airport Wireless/Ethernet) will only print one copy, regardless of how many copies I request. If I request 200 copies, I still only receive one copy from the printer.

I noticed that one of the problem 10.4.9 "corrected" was the number of copies with the print server.

What gives? How do I get the number of copies I request to print out correctly?

I have shut everything down, re-set everything, reinstalled the printer drivers, and scoured the settings to make sure they are correct. This was clearly engaged when I upgraded to 10.4.9... Any helpful thoughts?

It seems like it is definitely a Mac OS problem, but the question is, will it be resolved through Apple or an updated driver from Xerox. Frankly, Xerox seems totally perplexed and since you can print to postscript and utilize the web printing feature, they seem less than motivated to solve the issue. But what can be done through Mac? This is RIDICULOUS! There must be some reason for the issue, and Mac should be able to discover a solution for the problem they created...

Thanks to a recommendation from a Xerox engineer, I've been able to print normally by adding the same printer using LPD (line printer daemon) rather than IPP (IP Printing). Hopefully, this helps you too, Lankford.

    Lankford -
If you want Apple to be aware of this, you must post on the Tiger OS X Feedback Forum. That is the only one they read.

There are no Apple employees paid to read this discussions forum -- I'm sure there are employees who read here, but they aren't the ones you need to contact.

Jesse! That was it! So far, so good. The solution seems to be using the LPD rather than IPP set up. UNBELIEVABLE! I am really pleased, many kudos for posting the answer!

I'd be interested to know if this continues to work for you or if you've encountered any other anomalies. After all of the printing hassles, I reverted back to OS X 10.4.8... I'll upgrade again if this is an effective solution.
