Hi. I haven't used Deja Vu before so can't advise on that software but I have had success with Synk http://www.decimus.net/synk_standard.php $35 (free 30 day trial) (note: I am still on the older version 5!)
It will copy only the new or modified files.
I stopped using Synk which I liked but the new versions and changes - and bugs - and have been using SuperDuper ($29)
Some history. I use to use Synk for years but it has changed too much and would be another "upgrade fee" so I went shopping and settled on SD!
Synk use to be really simple and clean and do its job. I've used and switched backup programs way too many times in the last 20 yrs and wish HFS Backup which became Redux (same author, great program).
There are a couple comprehensive reviews of backup software.

Although not related to this Topic, you might find the info here How to post a link (URL) in "Apple Discussions", useful for future posts.
As a courtesy to the Discussions Hosts, if you implement that technique, there won't be a need for them to edit your links. This will alleviate their tedious workload.
Your link could look something like this Acomdata 250GB External Firewire HD
Amazon includes whether you link from your shopping cart, referred by a web site, was from your Wish List, on and on.
Anytime there is "ref" or something like sid, cid, that is YOU too.
One guy created widgets for checking Amazon and Apple Store Specials. hum... lots of referrals headed their way for using their search engine.
