AVCHD Solution - looks promising

Does anyone know if the AVCHD solution described in this thread would work with Final Cut Express, or does it need Pro? The concept looks promising to me as a way of using modern hard drive or even memory stick based media instead of tape, with few important compromises for high definition non-pro use.

    You need FCP at all for this. Everything done here is done before you bring it into the application. The MPEG Streamclip conversion goes to AIC, the format that's used by FCE. It will be a pretty lengthy process if you have a lot of material.
