Currently Being ModeratedJun 3, 2007 5:46 PM (in response to Roger Barre)Hi Roger,
I have found that often times if you just give the power button a quick press it wakes the computer from deep sleep. The SMC power management isn't working the best and sometime sleep drains the power or makes the computer think that it has. You should see your screen come back looking like it is grayed out give it a moment to "power up".
The Firewire(?) hard drive being connected is a factor as well. I suggest you dismount the external whenever it is not being used. I have had too many unrecoverable failures to be able to recommend anything else.
The problem that is causing it is a time formatting error causing the HDD to become out of sync. Same error causing the sleep problems as well.
