I have a new MacBook (the black one) running 10.4.10, and have had 3 kernel panics today. Can someone with more knowledge on these issues than me give me some suggestions?

Thanks

Same kernel panics here. Running 10.4.10.

Anybody else having the same panics with the Atheros card should report it here to see if the problems are isolated or not.

I've been using the same thing for months and I've never had that problem. I don't even know what a Kernel Panic is.
I did hear though that a Mac virus has been circulating this past week, maybe that's what it is.
Update your security software if you can.

I have the same problem with my macbook... almost every day, often several times a day.

i have tired many things, but the gray screen of death remains

wish apple would help us... as this seems to be a common problem for many people. and i really doint want to determine which vista release would be right.

please tell us... if someone who udnerstand this problem helps reslove the problem; as many need help with this too.

I seemed to only have this problem when running from battery.

I reinstalled the 10.4.10 combo updater with no luck.

I then reinstalled to 10.4.9 and seem to be working fine now. Is 10.4.10 broken?

Also I no longer have the problem of the internet going down every 5-10 minutes.

Same problem here. Random panics after 10.4.10 update. No problems before that.

I am running a 2nd Revision Black MacBook with the updated 10.4.10 OS. I receive the exact same kernel panic, especially while I dealing with my intermittent internet connection. This new update brought too many problems.

Are you using a wireless router with WAP? Try using WEP and see if your kernel pacnics go away. This was an issue with Macbook Pros...

I have seen that kernel panic a couple times on my month old Macbook running 10.4.9. It appears to be caused by a shaky Airport driver, but that's a bit of speculation on my part.

Anyway, the problem doesn't appear to be isolated to 10.4.10 because I haven't upgraded to that point version yet.

I have been using WEP security as well.....

There are long discussions about this in the macbook pro category. Seems to be a problem with a driver and airport which happens only on battery power. See if changing your battery settings from Better Energy Savings to Better Performance helps.

I'm having the same problem. I just got my MB yesterday and have had 3-4 kernel panics already. I'm a new mac user so I don't really have any idea what to do. I have a 2.16 GHz intel core 2 duo and this is my panic log...

I have a black Macbook as well that is about 3 months old and I never had an issue with it till I loaded 10.4.10. I called Apple support and they had me reload the firmware from the original disk so I am back to 10.4.8 I no longer have the shutdowns and they will let me know when a better version of 10.4.10 is available. This only happened when I was on line so is is an issue with airport or the drivers for the card. BTW, my wife has a new white Macbook and we did the same update and her has never shutdown... What is it with the black version of Macbooks? Based on what I have read here, it is just a problem with them.....
