To the person who wrote about the 7 Series BMW, the bmwusa website claims that the iPhone connects with all series across the BMW line. The Passkey is located on a plastic coated card included in your owner's papers you should have received from the dealer. There's a sticker on that card with really small writing. The real question is how come my X3 doesn't seem automatically ask to pair with the device. Going to the dealer for such a seemingly simple thing is silly.

I have an '07 X5 and the iPhone paired perfectly.

The pass key is the last four digits of your VIN.

Interestingly, I don't have BMW's most recent software update, yet all my contacts are syncing perfectly. My Samsung Blackjack never synced.

I have a 2007 530i and it worked perfectly fine with the iPhone - no issues at all - pulled all my information/contacts to the iDrive system screen no problems - handsfree calling - works perfectly.

I chose 1234 for my code but you can choose anything I think.

You have to tell your car to look for a Bluetooth device. My Prius didn't do it automatically either, but when telling it to scan for the Bluetoot (iPhone), it set itself up without any problems.

Are you having an issue with your bluetooth going on and off and losing contact with your phone? I am and have read other people having similar problems.

the default codes for all bmw's using IDRIVE is 0000 or 1111. If you have a 7 series, those cars have a higher level of security and have a certain passkey issued to your car and it should be in the paper work that came with your owners manual. I have a '06 325i with IDRIVE and it works amazingly with all capable features.

No, it's not going on and off - everytime I get into my car the little phone comes up on the iDrive screen and when I get a call it comes through the car but the iPhone will ask me if I want to route it through the phone instead otherwise I don't do anything it just goes through the car. Works beautifully so far!

Try deleting it from the bluetooth list in the BMW and adding it again if it keeps acting up.

You must pair the device when you first set it up within 90 seconds of starting the car. You can set the passcode to whatever four digits you want. I had a problem setying up the phone the first day i bought the iPhone, but my BMW salesman set it up in about ten seconds. Hope this helps someone. --Kevan

There is no predetermined passcode...you CREATE IT YOURSELF!!

Select any 4 numbers on your phone, then repeat the same 4 numbers on the car.
