You know this is all caused by the rush out of the iPhone! They should have told us not to load the new version of Itunes, knowless you just purchased a iPhone, for the new version has nothing new expect to activate you new phone and manage the phones setting.

For all the trouble they should send us all iPhones for this headache! Or at least sell them for what there really worth......

I can confirm this works fine too. I was doubtful it would because I reason I'd upgraded from 7.2 to 7.3 was to try and get rid of the 'Visual++ error' on startup, however, touch wood, this hasn't reappeared.

Obviously you need to go to Add or Remove Programs (in Control Panel) and uninstall 7.3 before you reinstall 7.2.

I did it. Downgrading to 7.2 takes about 10 minutes,
including the download from filehippo.com and the
problem is solved. I don’t really miss the new
features like the blue highlighting, although the
»Sync« button was a good idea.
    Goodbye 7.3

Did you have any podcast subscriptions &/or podcast downloads?
If yes, how were they affected?

I have (literally) several thousand podcast files, and they are all absolutely fine (including preservation of play counts etc.) Obviously no harm in backing up your library files (the binary and the XML) beforehand though.

Here's the info that Apple provides with the new 7.3.1 iTunes & Quicktime release:
    -------------------------
With iTunes 7.3, you can now activate iPhone service and sync it with your music, TV shows, movies and more. Also, you can now wirelessly share and enjoy your favorite digital photos from any computer in your home with Apple TV. iTunes 7.3.1 addresses a minor problem with iTunes 7.3 accessing the iTunes Library.
    -------------------------

    Minor problems?? Are they kidding??
Thank G-d it's fixed (we hope).

I was about to give up on iTunes when the update showed up. I tried to have iTunes update itself and ended up having to reboot my computer. I used my browser to install the upgrade and so far so good. I think next upgrade, I'll wait about a month before letting iTunes update itself again.

Just got a new error message after running error free with the new updated software - v. 7.3.1.3 - for over a week error free.

    The new error is:

The iTunes Library Can Not Be Saved. An unkown error occured (-81).

    What the heck is this??
I hope it doesn't happen again.

I'm going to start a new thread:

Guess I should have put this in this thread, instead of a seperate one:

I've had 7.3 running fine, but the 7.3.1.3 just screwed up my library. Songs are missing in the artist section (artist is still there, but not displaying any songs) and the song selection is missing them. They are present in the Album section though, which really makes me scratch my head.

I have a feeling that the new sorting for the iPhone is screwing everything up and not accepting old libraries.

Guess I'll be trying to put 7.2 back on, but not sure if the libraries are backwards compatible, as I had already been working with 7.3 for awhile now.

Why does Apple rush to put this out for the iPhone anyways? Its not like they designed the phone overnight.....
