Hi adam, Welcome to Apple's Users Help Users Forums.
Give some thought to |||| bar Poster Francine Schwieders thinking. That's what I am going to do.
*I plan to buy my next computer before Leopard comes out. Why? Because generally new Mac computers will not run any system older than the one they ship with,* I want to be able to use the fully mature Tiger system, rather than having to rely entirely on Leopard. Who knows whether the software I own will be fully compatible with Leopard? Or how long it will take for developers (think Adobe) to update if there are incompatibilities with Leopard. Or even just how stable and reliable and all like that Leopard will be.

Does the screen rotate to portrait mode?
Or can this drive a second screen that can be used in portrait mode?
I skip several Mac generations, last bought in 2000, so these may be frequent questions, but it's getting to be time ....Pismo/512ke/pb140/150/180/180c/520c/LC/SE30, Mac OS X (10.3.9)
I doubt that it will rotate. Looks like it's set up like current iMac.
Go to Apple.com and learn all I know.11/06 Imac 17 Intel C2D 1 GB 667 MHz SDRam OWC Merc FWHD SuperDuper, Mac OS X (10.4.10), Do not start vast problems with a half vast mind.
ahh, I literally just bought my iMac Saturday! i didn't know new ones were on the way . oh well, im not missing anything, i don't see anything different on them other than the black strip on the screen....Choose
thinner aluminum housing, ilife '08 (you may able to talk them into giving you that, anyway, if you take in your receipt), and the glossy screen, which is a negative to me.iSight iMac G5 2.1, flat panel imac 700, ibook G4 1G, Performa 6116CD, Mac OS X (10.4.10)
If I were in your situation, I'd definitely return the iMac even for a small restocking fee and get the new iMac.MacBook Pro 15-inch 2.16Ghz, 2GB RAM, 120GB Hard Drive, Mac OS X (10.4.10), iPod Video 60GB, Wireless Mighty Mouse, Apple Wireless Keyboard, Nokia BH-900
Good news, 1gb x1 RAM (so an empty slot, instead of 2x512 that have to be thrown away to increase memory later) --right?
I'm guessing it'll need 2, or 3 megs of RAM if it can take 3, to run the next version of OSX. Safe to assume it will run the next version of OSX?
Sorry for basic questions; last bought a Mac in 2000, I like to skip several generations at a time, as you can see. But it means asking the obvious when it's time to buy a new one. And the office will help pay for my next one, I think. Good news for Apple there.
How hard is it to add your own memory -- opening the new boxes --- to go to 2mb (or 3mb?), anyone know yet?

When seeing Apple's getamac ads they say using a mac is fun.
It is fun to play with and they look good and stylisch, better then a normal PC with Windows..
But these new iMac computers look like work and very boring to me, they are all gray/aluminum and dont have the cool look anymore. the iMac's look like those ugly HP or Compac widescreen notebooks.. they have the same black border also... And that's.... really ugly!!
I hope Apple will present an new line of desktop Computers in Sept/Oct when introducing OSX 10.5 I don't think apple will introduce 10.5 quietly, so there will be an oppertunity to introduce new products..
My guesses are that a new range of colored Macs will follow, these new iMacs are just way to boring for me and I can't imaging seeing a gray one in a movie or so...
Also, there should be a 17" desktop, for some places (in the livingroom) 20" or 24" is just to big..

Ps. i do like the aiport extreme upgrade to GB ethernet..Macbook CoreDuo 1.83 - 2GB, Mac OS X (10.4)
Personally I like them. More ram, faster processor, better graphics card, better wireless and a larger hard drive all for less money. You can't go wrong with that surely. Also lets not forget that desperate dan chin that's been given a good old hacking. About time too if you ask me, it was that chin that put me off the old style imac. The aluminium finish sounds as though it's gona look industrial and worth every penny. I used to think that the plastic finish on the previous imac was a bit cheap looking for such an expensive machine.
As for the glass over the screen the main advantage from what I've read is that it's much more scratch resistant. But only time will tell and I do wonder what screen glare is going to be like. Then the macbooks have the same finish and apparently it's very rare that you get screen glare and when you do it's just a matter of a small change in angle.
So in all in all I say nice one apple. I can't wait to be able to get one ... new job first me thinks.
