it may or may not work and possibly could cause some damage to the display, try at your own risk or better not. -

InsomniaX is a small utility that may do the trick. Note the warning, though, that it can cause heat buildup that is not good for your computer. If you decide to use it this way you may want to use some cooling mechanism.

Aug 31, 2007 1:36 PM in response to liquidapplesby prestoleum,If you're just trying to keep the screen off, just adjust the energy saver settings in the sys preferences to make the display shut off after 1 minute of inactivity. Or, you could plug in (if you have one) an Apple video adapter (to VGA, for instance), and the computer would stay on even if you shut the cover completely. -
