hello,

I got my MacBook a half year ago and everything was working fine, but recently the screen has been showing white spots. It's only visible when your looking at a side angle. Not when you're looking directly at the screen. At first i though it's nothing but now it's really disturbing because it seems there are more now. although it's not visible at direct angle. The spots have a size of 1 cm and bright white color.

Is this a known problem?? How can i fixed it?

Do you think i should go to my local apple store and will it fall under my guarantee??

Could someone please help me.

I thank you in advance!!

kind regards,

I don't know of this is a known problem or not. My MacBook hasn't shown signs of that. It should fall under the warranty and you should take it in to an Apple Store to have it looked at.

    Hey,

To me it sounds like pixels are dieing in your computer although they seam to be dieing really fast. If you have another computer you can use stop using you MacBook and bring it to an Apple Store ASAP. Good Luck and Welcome to the AppleDiscussions

    Hi,

I have similar problem with my MBP, but they are also noticable looking straight on. I also found this thread that exactly describes the problem, so I thought why not link and help each other. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5536881#5536881
See which one of us gets it solved first and share how it is to be solved.

I haven't had any experience with the real Apple Store and its Genius Bar since there isn't any in my city. But if you take it to an authorized seller with reparation service, they sometimes let you keep your computer after the initial dianosis until they get the necessary parts to fix it.

    I hope this helps.

I've been having the same problem I just noticed it today. I did a bit of research and i noticed that the old PowerBooks used to have the same problem but it was much worse. It took up the center of the screen and made almost a simley face on the screen here's a link http://josephtate.com/whitespots.html My problem isn't as severe its about the size of the point of a bic pen and it near the middle of the left side of the screen. The thing is that my laptop is newer and i dont know if Apple will replace it because some of the people with the powerbook white spots couldnt get them replaced. Hopefully It will go away or I will find away to just live with it.

I doubt the problem will just go away. My Macbook has had a spot like this for over half a year now.

Has anyone made any progress in seeing how we can deal with this?

My black Macbook just started showing these weird white spots. I left one of those "dead pixel" fixing programs run for about an hour, no dice. No Applecare either. Bummer.

I took it in to an Apple service shop, and they took a picture of the problem, opened an account, and told me there isn't much to be done at the moment, and perhaps Apple will start looking at the problem more seriously once the problem gets worse. Bummer, I was kind of hoping more would be known, but I guess it's just the way it is for the moment.

If you only had it for half a year, take it back to Apple store if possible, ASAP. I had problem with my screen, it would flicker before going to sleep. Took it in and Apple fixed it, no questions asked, under warranty. If you take it on Monday, you could get it back by Wednesday or Thursday.
