Have you checked HP's website for an updated driver?

The weird thing is, on Tiger, you never actually needed to install any HP printer drivers. Tiger just found the printer and set it all up automatically. With Leopard though, it's not finding the HP printer, so not setting it up automatically.17" iMac 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, 250GB Hard Drive, Mac OS X (10.4.8)

The second known issue affects users who have HP printers connected to their system or are upgrading from a Tiger system with an HP printer that had previously been configured. Though Apple did not specify the root of the problem, it recommended that these users perform a custom install of Leopard and de-select the HP printer drivers in the installer. The proper drivers would be delivered via Software Update following the Leopard install, the company added.
Currently Being ModeratedOct 26, 2007 8:45 PM (in response to Reuben Feffer)I have a Photosmart 2710 as well. I can get the printer to work since I upgraded to Leopard today; however none of the other features on the HP 2710 work. I use the SCAN function quite often and the scan software says it doesn't recognize a scanner. Also, I tried to uninstall and re-install the HP software. I couldn't even get the HP uninstaller to work. So I'm stuck as well. Any ideas?? I'd hate to have to go back and do a custom install of Leopard. YUK!24" Core Duo iMac 2GB, Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Well I tried adding the Printer again today, and it worked. So I can now print over WiFi using my HP Photosmart 2710 and Leopard. Great.
Now if only Image Capture could access the scanner in my 2710 over WiFi.17" iMac 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, 250GB Hard Drive, Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Is there something you tried that kicked the printer into life? I'm currently stuck with a similar problem; Printer connected to other Mac, connected fine over Airport through Tiger, now not showing.
Any info you have would be much appreciated,

Currently Being ModeratedOct 27, 2007 6:43 AM (in response to Reuben Feffer)I have an HP 7100 Series. When you install the printer you need to download the HP software from their site and use that to install the printer. Do not use the apple install process. Oh also make sure firewall is off because that was also causing a problem. I followed those steps and all my printer function is working properlyMacbook Pro 2.4 Glossy, Mac OS X (10.5)
Currently Being ModeratedOct 27, 2007 12:39 PM (in response to delphwynd)I actually didn't do anything. From the time I installed Leopard, the printer printed. It's just ALL the other features of the Photosmart 2710 don't work. As I stated before, I wanted to uninstall and reinstall the software-- but the HP Uninstall program wouldn't run with Leopard. It just sits there.
So at least I have printing; but I scan things all the time and that is really causing me a problem. I did e-mail HP for Tech Help and have not received any answer---although I expect they're being bombarded with questions since the Leopard release.24" Core Duo iMac 2GB, Mac OS X (10.5)
Currently Being ModeratedOct 27, 2007 7:25 PM (in response to Reuben Feffer)I created Leopard and did not take any printer drivers. I turned on my 2710. I tried to print something using textedit. I selected under printer, Add printer. I did 'select a driver to use'. I selected one of the HP Photosmart drivers P1000 or P1100. I was then able to print.Powerbook G4, Mac OS X (10.5), HP 2710
Currently Being ModeratedDec 3, 2007 1:51 PM (in response to P DUB OKC)Sorry to bother you but I wondered if you managed to get the scan function working on your HP2710 printer and if so, whether you'd be kind enough to let me know how, as I've had the same trouble since upgrading my OS to Leopard and I am really stuck without being able to scan docs in to send via e-mail
On the off chance you've had some success, many thanks in advance for taking the trouble to offer me the benefit of your advice

Currently Being ModeratedDec 3, 2007 2:44 PM (in response to P DUB OKC)I had exactly the same "scanner not connected" problem when up upgraded to OS X Leopard. However I've just downloaded the latest 10.4 driver from the HP web site
And I seem to have somehow managed to get everything working once I re-installed their latest driver and followed the set-up process (having deleted the previous printers first). After opening "Print & Fax" when prompted to click "open print utility" (as this does not work), I then added the HP2710 printer by clicking the plus sign and choosing the "Default" tab in the add printer window, I selected the add printer button again (plus sign) and chose the "more printers" tab along the top of the add printer window and then chose HPAiO Fax and this added the fax to my print queue.
Then when I went back to the HP set-up process and let it finish, everything, included my scanner miraculously seemed to work...hallelujah!
Hope this help someone, as it's the first ever time I've been able to offer some assistance in discussions, rather than bugging everyone with all my problems!
