After I upgraded to Leopard, iChat is quitting unexpectedly on start-up. It is only failing on one of the managed accounts (although I have tried turning off management for that account with no change). When I launch iChat, I get the error that iChat has quit unexpectedly and here is the report:

It may not help, but this kind of happened to my friend yesterday with his new iMac. iChat wouldn't open. He got the software updates, and restarted, and it worked. I'm sure you've probably tried this, but just in case.

I'm having the exact same problem.. iChat just won't open. Not from the dock.. or from the applications folder. when i on ichat in applications folder, it says its the current iChat 4.0

Why won't this thing open? Is my computer just too old to work properly with Leopard?? Every other program is working fine.. ichat won't even try to open at all.. Just unexpectedly quits.

    What's the deal?

Thanks so much for your tip. I had the same root problem from Mail. I took it out of the doc and put in the mail from the applications folder back in the dock. Poof it was fixed!!!

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Run this bold text in Terminal. (Copy and Paste then hit enter)

    /Applications/iChat.app/Contents/MacOS/iChat -errorLogLevel 7

This forces Terminal to look in the Applications folder for iChat and try and run it.

Copy the Log that is created in Terminal and post it here (Quit Terminal say yes if it asks to Quit iChat because it started).

If it does not start iChat you may need to reinstall just the application.
This iChat 3 FAQ will show you how to do that (The Easy Way) http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=121719

There is an IP nearer the top that looks like an External IP where the Bandwidth is checked.

It does not match the one near the very bottom.

Also it looks like System Preferences > Quicktime is set to Intranet/LAN

I would try this at 1.5Mbps and restart iChat.

    Which Laptop ?
