Have you tried the SMC reset?
Have you added memory to the mbp? If so, remove it and see if the issues continue.
Also, do you have any non-apple usb devices on the mbp? If so, remove them and see if the issues continue.
finally, if these don't work, call applecare.

Try a cooling pad...I recently bought the Targus Chill Pad from Office Depot--about $20...I'm not sure if it will resolve your issue, but it will cool the computer and allow your machine to work a bit more efficiently. My lap loves me for the purchase.MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.10)
