I am using mail app for my IMAP accounts. To maintain consistency, I want to have the same system folder name. one of them is sent folder, and the name I prefer is sent items, while the mail app uses sent messages. Is there anyway to change this setting in mail. just like they have in iphone. I can desginate which folder will be used as sent folder. It does not seem to offer this option in mail app. Am I missing something?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.10)

    Hi coldstone.

Select the folder you want Mail to use, then do Mailbox > Use This Mailbox For.

why is my option for this greyed out? and on a friends computer as well. We get no sent mail.

It worked fine on my g4, but not our mbp's. I do not get it... I can never get that option to be working

The Mailbox > Use This Mailbox For command can only be applied to mailboxes stored on an IMAP server that don’t already have a special meaning for Mail, i.e. to server-stored mailboxes that appear in Mail with a generic folder icon. It cannot be applied to “On My Mac” mailboxes stored locally on your computer, nor to any of the Inbox, Drafts, Sent, etc. mailboxes.
