I posted a couple of questions, but so far have no answer.
My instinct tells me it's an iTune software problem...so hang in there and make sure Apple knows about your problem.

Currently Being ModeratedNov 17, 2007 6:37 PM (in response to JoelBelmont)I'm just chiming in to say that I'm also having the "between tracks" crash that Rike Miller just mentioned. It only started in the last few days when I upgraded to iTunes 7.5, and it only happens when I'm playing from an audio cd.
I'm going to go ahead and uncheck the "use error correction" box in hopes that this will help solve it, even though I was under the impression that this was only in effect when importing from an audio cd, since it's under the "importing" preferences. I'll post again if it's any help - but a fix from Apple would be greatly appreciated!
As far as trying to fix it myself, I've already run Cocktail (to fix permissions, if that could somehow have affected things) and then even deleted and reinstalled iTunes. It's still happening, so I'm rather confident at this point that iTunes 7.5 is just a clunker. I'm wishing I hadn't upgraded. Hopefully we'll see 7.5.1 mighty soon!

The error correction works also with playing Audio CDs. On my work PC, iTunes froze and I was able to "End Task". My old G4 eMac was not so lucky, it froze the system with no force quit. Power button to turn it off.

It's definitely been working so far!
Now I've got a much bigger fish to fry - I had "Detour" installed when I upgraded to 10.4.11, and I think it's made me have a kernel panic when I startup. So I have to startup from an external hard drive until I archive + install I think.

Currently Being ModeratedNov 20, 2007 8:04 PM (in response to JoelBelmont)I am having the exact same problem. My entire computer shuts down when I try to import a CD. It gets through track one but then the entire computer powers off (as if the power cord was pulled out of the back).
I was able to burn two CDs earlier today but now it seems that no other CD will work.
Any suggestions? I've been a Mac users for 2.5 weeks now and am completely frustrated.

That's a lot more severe than what was happening with my problem - it was just making iTunes "hang" - the audio would keep playing, but the time would stop at 0:02 into the song, and then if I tried to do anything else in iTunes, it would either completely freeze or I would just eventually have to force quit the program.
But all the same, why don't you try doing what solved my problem: click on the "iTunes" menu in the top left, and then go under "preferences." Then go to "advanced," and under that, "importing." Then unclick the box that's at the bottom, "use error correction while reading audio cds." That solved my problem, at least. Hopefully it'll do the same for you!
I think that at the worst, you could probably delete iTunes and then reinstall it. Just make sure to export your library first (I think it's basically a database/directory, not the actual mp3 files themselves). That way you won't have to hunt down all the mp3s and add them to your library again.
Good luck - having been a Mac user since about 1992 I can assure you that usually Macs are not frustrating at all, so I'm sorry to hear that your switch experience isn't going smoothly so far!

Currently Being ModeratedNov 21, 2007 7:03 AM (in response to JoelBelmont)I've had a similar problem, with iTunes hanging when it tries to load a CD it has just burned (and Finder hanging sometimes too). It seems to have the same problem described here of going from one track to the next. Problems occur at specific tracks and re-occur at the same spot if I reinsert the same CD. The problems don't occur if I keep iTunes off and play the CD tracks in Preview in the Finder.
I unchecked the error correction preference and that seemed to solve the problem.
This raises another issue though. It would seem that iTunes is burning audio CDs that, at least in its opinion, contain errors at track transitions. It does this consistently, over and over again when burning the same playlist, regardless of speed, media, and other details, but I never saw this before October 4. I do not have problems with importing cd's, yet.
My error correction is off and the problem still occurs.
Hopefully apple can solve this problem with an update.
I'm using leopard over a week now, and this isn't the first problem that occured.

This problem happens especially when i browse through CD tracks on the disc, if i do it too fast then its more prone to crash, so i have to do it very slowly or even browse through the song itself to prevent it from crashing, sometimes it works and it doesn't
Its really bothering, now i heard of some ways to fix it due to plugin problems, done that and nothing, this thing is obviously the fault of the cd drive module itself, so i don't know really what to tell in suggestions to fixing it, just never happens in tiger and of course leopard has this issueMacbook Pro Aug, Mac OS X (10.5.1)

I was happily importing my cd collection for 2 days before i started getting the "grey power down" screen. I do not have the error button clicked, and i have resorted to downloading 2 to 3 songs at a time. It started slowly, only a couple times over multiple hours. Not it is EVERY cd i put in!!!
I was so pleased with my new Mac, and now I wanna throw it out the window and go back to PC. How could such a "good" brand have such an annoying bug on a cd burning software.
I am reading it is the new iTunes version, anyone know how to get the old version?!?!
