Currently Being ModeratedJan 10, 2008 11:19 AM (in response to Scott Haskin)I've seen the same problem here ever since I upgraded to Leopard. Gigabit network access from my June 2004 PowerMac G5 is atrocious. Access to both SMB/CIFS and AFS shares on a lightly loaded gigabit switch generally result in throughput down in the 40 Mbps range. It's almost unusable. I can't even play music in iTunes when the songs are stored on the network, because iTunes runs out of buffer and has to pause playback while it buffers.
Tests using netperf show the problem exists with a raw TCP connection, too.
I filed a bug with Apple a few days ago, but thus far I have not heard anything.PowerMac G5 (rev. B, dual 2.0), Mac OS X (10.5.1)
