Verizon locks the lease down to a MAC address. You have to release the current lease before you can plug in and pick up a new IP on a new MAC address.

It's been half an hour and they finally figured out I don't want to renew the IP address of my client machine..................... They are now off looking up the relevant info for me blah blah blah....
