OK so many websites and music sites do not work when I travel overseas. I want to rent movies via iTunes to watch on my laptop, but want to make sure that having a 'non-US' IP address won't prevent me from watching rented videos. Does my laptop have to be connected to the internet to watch the movie, say when I am on an airplane? Do I need to connect at any time? If or when I do, will I be prevented from watching the movie in anyway if I am in another country?

Sorry, just not sure how this is implemented.

Thanks

You should be fine as long as your permanent billing and residential address remains in the USA. As for being connected to the internet? Hmm. I don't think so. Just make sure the time on your computer is correct.

    Hi there!

Well, originally I'm from Portugal but I moved to the USA some years ago. I often go to Portugal and I can promise that you will be able to buy and watch rented movies anywhere else. I have done it several times when go to Lisbon. You don't need to be connected to the Internet to watch the movie, except if you are still downloading it of course! You'll only need to be connected to Internet if you want to transfer you movie from your laptop to your iPod/iPhone...
