Hey all.

I uh, hehe, had my iPod nano gen 2 washed in the laundry cycle. It works, but a few problems have arisen:

1. The iPod can't be recognized by anything. Thus, it won't recharge.
2. The backlight doesn't work.
3. When the backlight works, the iPod thinks it's recharging.
4. The Clicker sound from teh speakers is lower (hehe this is really trivial).

I am using CaCl2 to dry out the water. Any other tips?

Please.

Thanks so much.

Um, so you're saying there's no hope?

I am saying that what you do immediatly after the iPod comes out of the water is the crucial factor in it ever working again.

If you tried to turn it on or tried to sync or charge it then that is when the damage occurs.

What causes the damage is not the water on its own, its the electricity flowing through the wet circuits when you power the iPod on.

If you already tried to use it then THAT is when the iPod was damaged.
IF there is any hope left _stop checking_ to see if it works right and just let it dry out. Give it a week, or if you know how to do it take the Nano apart so it dries faster. But playing with it to see if it still works within the first 3 days of it getting wet is a horrible idea.

Okay, well, I did turn it on...

    However...

It works now. The computer is easily recognizing the iPod. The thing is:

    1. The iPod keeps thinking it is recharging. Still.
    2. When I reset, the backlight turns on. When I reconnect, it works again.

This has led me to believe that by me leaving the iPod charging after it came out of the wash, I almost killed the battery. Should I leave it charging, or wait for it to dry more? Or get a new battery?

Try putting it in a bowl of rice. This is suppose to pull all the moisture out of the electronic devices..i.e. cell phones

oaky hey guys its been about 10 days since the washup; my ipod nano gen 2 works fine except:

    1. reset = no backlight until connection established with comp
    2. battery sometimes shows it is charging after connection broken, but usu. goes to bar drainage thing
    3. battery drains super fast . . . ipod was fully charged this morning and one day of listening = red zone already!

    is my battery, like, dead?
