In the Fonts palette, click on the little gear icon at the bottom, then select Show Preview. Click on a font and it will display what it looks like at the top of the palette.

Following on my previous post about display in actual fonts it is interesting that once you use a font, it goes into recently used and is displayed as actual font style. and you can then drag it to favourites which is also displayed in actual font style. Interesting that it can do it here and not in the full list.
