I've long been looking for a Mac stationary, but the wallet is way too thin these days for a Mac Pro.

Finally, I've been offered a good price on a G5 .. It's main functions will be surfing and media center.

1) I have a PC laying around with a ATI Radeon X1650 graphics card. The card has TV tuner which I would like for the G5. Is there any way I can check for compatibility between the G5 and the graphics card?

1a) If it isn't compatible ... what graphics card that has TV tuner would you recommend?

2) I've seen people have begun using Bluray drives for Mac Pros, are these drives also compatible with G5?

Thanks in advanced.

EDIT: ****, just checked the back of my PC and it seems as though the TV tuner is seperate from the graphics card. So just 1a, any recommendations?

    Hi-

1- No, the card will do you no good in the G5. Graphics cards must be Mac compatible specifically, or have had the ROM flashed to Mac ROM (not all cards can be modified).
BTW, What card is currently installed in the G5?

1a- For TV tuners, Elgato has some of the best options available. (Independant of the graphics card).

2- Blu-Ray can be used. Panasonic burners, or Pioneer blu-ray reader/combo drives can be used in Mac's. Other possibilities are out there, and a good source for user feedback is Xlr8yourMac. Note that dependant on the interface, you may need to add a SATA PCI controller to install a drive in the internal bay. IDE and firewire alternatives are available.
Also, blu-ray burning will require use of Toast 8.

    Hi-

1- No list as such, and is dependent on the model of G5. There are no graphics cards with built-in tuners, like ATI TV Wonder for PC's, for the G5.
2- Playback in SD is fine, but I assume that you are referring to the HD content. HDCP compliance is not a complete part of the Apple package yet. OS X does not support the HD playback. This may be of interest.
