I had this problem an fixed it by creating a New Project and moving one clip into it. As soon as I played the clip in the project all my clips in the Event Library had sound.

I'm having the exact same issue, but your tip didn't solve it. Any other suggestions out there? I'm getting sound on the meters, but no output. It does play audio through the skimmer.

I'm also having this issue. I hear the audio (from computer speakers) when I skim but not when I play the video. I check the volume settings for the video clips and everything. Let me know if you found a solution to this please. The tip above did not work for me either. The audio did play (on camera speaker) during the import.

    Any help is appreciated.

I'm having the same problem as well... The new project didn't fix it for me either.

I have the same problem. When I go to the finder it has the sound but not in iMovie.

I had this same problem. After I imported the video from my camcorder, I could hear sound when skimming the video, but there was no sound on playback. I think what worked for me was to quit and restart iMovie. After that, sound played normally during playback.

The full list of steps I took was: 1. iMovie still open since importing video. 2. Open iTunes. 3. Run Software Update, which wanted to update two irrelevant components. 4. Quit iTunes and iMovie. 5. Allow Software Update to proceed. 6. Restart iMovie (but not iTunes). Maybe some of those other steps helped. But if others have these symptoms, I suggest you try simply restarting iMovie first.

Note that playing sound during import was not the issue. As documented, iMovie doesn't play video sound during import, the camcorder does.

My iMovie is version 7.1.1 (259). iTunes is version 7.6.2. QuickTime Player (FWIW) is version 7.4.5.

Hope this helps others. Thanks for your help. Good luck!
