Currently Being ModeratedAug 2, 2005 1:54 PM (in response to Scott Lahodny)Click the following link to open the AppleScript in Script Editor, then press the green "Play" button to execute it. It will show you the file you should move to the Trash. Then restart your Mac.
--Open this script in a new Script Editor window.
set uid_ to do shell script "/usr/bin/id -u"
set lscache_file to ":Library:Caches:com.apple.LaunchServices-014" & uid_ & ".csstore" as string
set lscache_file to alias lscache_file
display dialog "Sorry, could not locate Launch Services cache file" default button 2
tell application "Finder"
set window_ to make new Finder window to lscache_file
display dialog "Move the selected file to the Trash and then restart your Mac."
Hope this helps....
(Please let us know if it does or doesn't; if it doesn't, there's one other file we can try).
Currently Being ModeratedAug 4, 2005 4:55 PM (in response to MarkDouma®)Thank you for sharing your expertise. Your fix was a big help. I wasn't going to re-install 10.4 just for that feature, but I use it all the time.
It also fixed an issue with the slideshow feature from the finder. That now works too.
Currently Being ModeratedAug 16, 2005 6:04 PM (in response to MarkDouma®)Tried this to no avail. Per related thread, I set up a new user and the results are the same. I cannot successfully drag a file onto the application, either in the dock or onto the program icon in the applications file. The program will open, but the document will not. Once the program is open I can open from the program file menu. Brand new user is the same.

I would just like to say a big thanks for this script fella.
After numerous different solutions (none of which have worked), this has fixed my Drag 'n Drop Dock problem.
Again many thanks,

If so, see the following post: Francine Schwieder, "Cannot drag files into applications in the dock" #1, 02:59pm Jul 29, 2005 CDT
Hope this helps...
