Startup Alerts after every reboot

My Tiger works fine mostly only there's one weird problem.

EVERY TIME I reboot I get two alerts saying there's something wrong with the Startup Items folder, with a button to "Fix". I click each one and then another alert comes up suggesting a ReStart. I click it and then it restarts without the alerts.

This ritual recurs every time I reboot, which isn't terribly often, but it suggests that something is wrong, and I'd appreciate any advice about how to fix it.

I made screenshots of the alerts, but I couldn't figure out how to put them in this message, so I put them on my website:
