Currently Being ModeratedAug 30, 2005 11:37 AM (in response to Chris Reid1)Address book on 10.4.2 appears to be very flakey. Help from Apple to rectify my problems has been useless and they claim to know nothing about the kids names appearing in the title when I try to print labels . Suggest you consider an alternative programme that is stable. Very annoying I know but like most Apple problems it will mysteriously disappear with a future software update.
Currently Being ModeratedOct 3, 2005 9:54 PM (in response to Roberta Garland)I was having this same problem... very frustrating. I solved it my creating a new "ME" address in my address book. I simply created a card with my own information and went to the Card menu and clicked on Make This My Card. I then deleted the old "ME" address. Apparently Address book looks for this address to fill in the default return address information. If your current "ME" address doesn't include a street address or is somehow otherwise defective it will give rise to the problems you and others in this thread have had.
Currently Being ModeratedOct 7, 2005 2:04 PM (in response to Roberta Garland)What and how do you get "East Envelops". I have a G4 and a G4 Power book with Address Book 4.0.2. I have been trying for many of hours to simply print envelops. I could have written them out by hand ten times over at this point! After selecting a contact(s) in Address Book, the contact's spouse and childrens' names are being added to the first address line on the envelop . It appears to be impossible to delete the spouse and children from preview, yet I cannot find anywhere else to change the preferences for printing. Ideally I don't want to omit this information from my address book, but don't need it on the envelop. Why is this happening?

Where do you have the Spouse & Children information on the address card?
Currently Being ModeratedOct 7, 2005 2:20 PM (in response to Roberta Garland)Easy Envelopes is very easy to use, but is only configurable to an extent. If you want a more configurable & powerful label & envelope program, get Mail Factory, you can find it at Version Tracker as well.
Currently Being ModeratedNov 15, 2005 10:00 AM (in response to James Pittman1)The Address Book/Print/Envelope/Layout/Label command "Print my address" was inaccessible (grayed out) until I made a new "Me" card. I didn't even have to delete the old card. Many thanks for the idea!
Currently Being ModeratedDec 3, 2005 10:04 PM (in response to Roberta Garland)To avoid printing children & spouses names on envelopes
and avoid printing multiple addresses for individuals, after selecting the
print command, go to "Label." Under "Addresses", where the default is "All,"
select instead "Distribution List",
corresponding to a particular distribution list you are using. The children
and spouses disappear from the envelopes when I do that, and for
each individual only the address I have chosen for them under Edit >
Edit Distribution List gets printed. This selection does not stick for
subsequent print commands, so you need to go back and select
Distribution List every time you print. Clearly this is just a workaround,
and whomever at Apple decided to insert children and spouses names
in addresses without allowing us to opt out should be strung up. But
the capability for printing envelopes and creating custom sizes and
all does otherwise work quite well for me. I just did something like
100 Christmas card envelopes with quite a variety of addresses, and
it all went smoothly once I figured out the above.
