My .mail app has suddenly stopped accepting my login password as accurate since the .mac update.

I've tried re-entering the password without success. .mac itself (online login) accepts my password but Mail doesn't no matter what I do. I deleted all my Mail app passwords from keychain and rebooted but still my password gets rejected.

Any help please?

Thanks.

Me too and the help file saying that one should try again after a short time is beginning to sound hollow!

OK, so I got tired of it so I deleted the account on Mail and created it again (messages on the server will still be there, so no big deal).

It is all working once again. Go figure!

If anyone is still having trouble, I tried the following suggestion (found in the .Mac Discussion threads) and it also worked. Seems related to the .Mac upgrade that occurred earlier today...

Email "* Solution found for .Mac Mail IMAP problem".

I have discovered a solution or workaround for the problem whereby .Mac mail
cannot be accessed other than via the web interface or Mail.app

As your User ID, simply enter your user name WITHOUT @mac.com, for example if
your account is johndoe@mac.com simply enter johndoe as your User ID, and you
should be able to retrieve your mail. I did this, and all is now working well.

Don't know if this represents a change to the way mail access operates or if it
is simply a temporary problem, but Apple appears to be silent on this matter.

I can confirm that removing the "@mac.com“ solved my problem.
Mail - Preferences - Account - User Name

I also found that a workaround is to delete the @mac.com part of my wife's id did the trick!

    Thanks very much.
