My videos on my 30g will not play. It just shows a black screen but i can fast forward it and it shows the movie but once i play it it just freezes. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!

You might want to try going through the Five Rs.

Also, does this happen for all videos? Where are the videos from (iTunes, the Internet, DVDs, etc.)? Finally, do these videos play fine in iTunes?

Did you ever figure out the problem? I am having the same issues with the same ipod and it is has just started lately. My issues are with playing video podcasts that have always worked in the past.

I just started having this issue with any of the video podcasts I have recently downloaded. I can play older video podcasts or other videos such as TV shows I have downloaded. I reset my 80GB Ipod to factory settings and made sure Itunes was up to date, still have the problem though.

I'm having exactly the same problem in which my 80G iPod Classic will not play sync/play video podcasts. I did everything I could think of to include resetting the iPod to the factory settings and no luck. Anyone have a fix for this problem?
