On one end of my house I have a Time Capsule connected to my cable modem. On the other end of my house I have an AirPort Extreme Base station. Both are 802.11n. I set up an extended network using the instructions supplied by Apple and using the AirPort Utility.

But when I am in the part of my house within range of the AirPort Extreme, my Laptops, PCs, and iPhone cannot connect to the internet. It connects to the "network" but when I open a webbrowser the websites all timeout and it says that I cannot connect to the internet. Please help.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

I have the same problem with an Aiport Extreme Base Station and an Airport Express both of which are 80211 g/n - I've got the Base Station connected to a router. It is in bridge mode. Everything worts fine until I turn on my Airport Express configured to extend a wireless network and then nothing works. The base station is configured to extend a wireless network.

I used to have an old Airport Express and it worked like magic - this one knobbles my network so is used as a paper weight.

Have you tried to pin down where the problem lies?

Is it a range issue, interference, obstructions? Are you using the 5GHz or 2.4GHz channel? Does it work when the AEBSn is located nearer to the TC?

I have the same problem when using Airport extreme and time capsule. It used to work but I am now suspecting a firmware upgrade as the cause. I can get networking but no internet unless connected by ethernet to the base station.

I did notice if I used no security at all the system would work. ( I did not misconfigure these settings - I carefully tried a large number of times). There must be something else that needs to be done in these circumstances or perhaps another firmware upgrade to rectify the problem.

This is very disappointing because the airport express and linksys in access point mode work like a charm in my setup.

Yep, same problem here. I have a Time Machine downstairs connected to my cable modem and an Extreme (802.11n) upstairs. I can get an ip from the TM and see things on the network, but cannot get out onto the internet if connected to the remote Extreme.

I previously had the same setup only using two Extreme stations and had no issues.

I have the exact same problem with an Airport Extreme Base Station and a Time Machine, both with the latest 7.3.1 firmware. I tried what Tasso said and disabled the wireless security which allowed me to connect to the internet from both, but this is obviously not a solution. The strange thing I noticed was that I was able to route through my ISP, but once the routing left my ISP, it would fail to connect. This meant I was able to get to my ISPs website, but nothing else. I've tried with making both the Time Machine and Aiport Extreme Base Station the primary wireless network to no avail. Was anyone able to get any farther with this?
