Navigate to this location in the Finder:

    Macintosh HD/users/YOURUSERNAME/Library/Preferences

    And delete the following files:

    com.apple.ichat.AIM.plist
    com.apple.ichat.plist
    com.apple.ichat.subnet.plist
    com.apple.ichatAgent.plist

Do this with iChat NOT running. See if it solves your problem.

It will reset iChat to default settings.

When you launch iChat after deleting those files, you'll be asked to provide your AIM screenname and password again. If you have changed any preferences for iChat, you'll need to set them again.

However, your buddy list as well as saved iChat conversations will not be lost.
