I have a client running Mac OSX Server 10.4.11 with networked home directories on a 10.4.11 workstation. One user on the network has an issue where if he uses the Duplicate command in the finder to duplicate a file it will tell him that he "Cannot duplicate the file because it already exists." When he clicks OK the file is not duplicated and the original file is deleted.
I have tried repairing permissions etc.. but the problem still occurs. The problem happens randomly and affects different types of files. Only one user has seen this behavior.
We had the same problem in Tiger server, I moved to Leopard server and didn't have the problem anymore. This was random and more then one user was having the problem. Don't know if it's a Tiger problem though, just know it didn't occur (yet!) on Leopard.
