Sorry "accessing itunes store" is not about getting the apps but rather about activating your iPhone on new 2.0 software as the last step. The error is a "server too busy" error (read about it here). Only remedy is to wait.

    Just an update...

It's 11:30am here in California and I just got through to iTunes for the 2.0 update.

It was extremely frustrating this morning getting the numerous error messages and not being able to use my phone.

But, I did finally get through and upgraded to 2.0.

    Best of luck everyone..

I am having the same problem. I've gotten every error mentioned here trying to connect to the itunes store. It has really caused an issue in my ability to service my clients and in todays' market, yes 1 day can make a difference. I'm very disappointed in Apple and the way this was handled. They should have anticipated a server backlog.

I tried my update first thing this morning. Here it is 7 hours later and still can't connect. My problem is nothing more then inconvenience. It isn't killing my business or anything like that. I am a PC Tech and I do use my iPhone to get jobs via OnForce and Gurus2Go. This is very important to my daily routine. It hasn't hurt me financially because I wouldn't put myself in a position like that on a mobile phone. I think the issue here is when you pay $400 for a phone and pay an expensive rate each month for your phone you should NEVER run into this problem.

It is very poor customer service on Apple's end. To all those die hard Apple lovers that bash Microsoft. Welcome to the real world of poor customer service. Apple just joined the ranks right along with Microsoft.

I got through that step and now I'm clicking Check for Update and iTunes tells me that 1.1.4 is the most current version.

How many other product launches can you think of off the top of your head in which a significant percentage of the consumers are unable to use the product after they purchase it?

This is a joke. Same error here. This is for all the stupid users that thought that macs were invulnerable. I can't believe the lack of preparation. This is amateur hour. I've been dealing with Windows my whole life and I thought that I was prepared for everything. Still this is lamer than everything Microsoft ever put us thru.

On IE7 the default receive timeout is 30 seconds. You can change that in the registry or you can downgrade to IE6 which waits a lot longer to get data before timing out. This will make your itunes a lot more patient with apple's overloaded servers. Worked great for me.

Well since the fine moderators for this forum felt it necessary to censor my last post and delete the one I responded to let me try and recall what I wrote. (It's also nice to know that you are here, however silent you may be)

Basically the aforementioned post I responded to had to do with a gentleman saying that all of the upset customers were windows users who should calm down because we should be used to being, and I quote, "dorked" on service and support.

I was under the impression that I should come to expect more from Apple, I see that is not the case. After 6 hours of clicking back and forth, disconnecting and reconnecting, I have come to find out that the only thing I should expect more of is less. I think I speak for most of the disgruntled customers here when I say we would be happy if you would just give us an update. If you don't know when service will be restored to normal, then just say that.

I don't see how a Fortune 500 company could lack the foresight and resource allocation to head off a problem as this. Apple knows how many iPhones it has produced. Do you know of an excuse for this??

Please spare us your Third-World-Starving-People rhetoric. We live in a developed nation where we pay for goods and services, and Apple sells these to us knowing full well what they need to do to keep up their end of the bargain. Most of us have mobile phones out of necessity not convenience.

This is frustrating because these are the only phones my wife and I have.
