Right now, iPhone video support for mp4 is kind of broken.

The best way to do it is to pull the video in to iTunes and then right-click (or option-click) and select "Convert for iPhone. This will create a new copy of the file that's formatted for your iPhone.

Its not broken, mine works fine.

The thread starter did not provide enough info:
Where did the videos come from?
    What codec are they?
What error if any do you get?
How are you trying to put them on the iPhone-drag and drop, sync ?

    More info is better.

I also would like to be able to reliably fix some of my video and upload it to my iPhone... And using Quicktime to do it is NOT an option. The last one I tried was horrible. Video quality significantly degraded.

Anyone have some good settings for something like MPEGStreamClip. I've tried several MPEG4 H.264 and they all will not play. Maximum quality is a must, that's why I bought the 16GB 3G iPhone....

I don't want to alter the size of the video.
I don't care how large a file it is.
If it'd also play on my PS3 that would be nice as well.

    Help?

mpeg streamclip has presets for the iPhone/touch.
Depending on the original file resolution, bit rate, audio-you most likely will have to make it smaller and lose some quality.
You will most likely not notice the loss due to the size of the iPhone screen.

What part of max quality did you miss? I find lowering the actual size or taking a dip in quality unaccceptable. It's not like these are HD captures, it's all standard def stuff, a few are letterboxed files and I use MPEGStreamlip to trim it down. Going even lower in quality is not good. Especially if I load the file to play on my PS3 as well (HDTV).

It may just be a max bitrate, max picture size thing but I'm unsure and nobody around seems to know for sure. Sorry but advising me to use some preset (which I am well aware of) is useless and adds ZERO to my question. Anyone else? Bueller?
