I just came across this article by Jason Snell of MacWorld, and thought I would share with everyone experiencing core shutdowns on your MBA. I'm getting my MBA today, and will most definitely pay $10 and install this app on it right away. I think $10 is a small investment on a $2,000 notebook! Cheers - Matt

Nope, my post on the macworld article:

I have a couple situations when I have the "core shutdown" issue. 1) YouTube video (sometimes) 2) Second Life ^TM^ (always). On the scenario 2) , the core goes "live" again almost immediately when I close SL. In the sense the issue maybe, can not be temperature related ( Yes, I was tracking the CPU temperature, and went up to 80, fan starts and down around 62).

I call 3 times Apple technical support, and the answer by 3 specialists, "Apple is aware of the problem, and our engineers are working on the solution, please have all your software updated, and keep eye on software releases". This is a hardware issue, like I tracked on Apple forum, people had the logic board + fan replaced and problem solved? "No, changing the logic board does not help".

I.e., the answers are mixed, between users that had the issue "solved" and Apple technical support.

Is really ashamed that Apple is taking so long to solve this issue on the MBA, as also, have the 2.0 release on the iPhone that has some basic problems, like lag on some applications and contacts information. I am not been paid to debug products for Apple, anyone here?
