Edge can be slow or not depending on signal, network traffic, etc.

Currently Being ModeratedAug 13, 2008 1:26 PM (in response to Courtnej)a device that's properly programmed will not lag and freeze up. the iPhone software has been buggy since day one and 2.0 and 2.01 made it only worse. mine is lagging / freezing as I type this. and as far as I know there is no fix. so ya, for the iPhone 1st gen with 2.0 software, freeze ups are normal. maybe some day apple will get it right.Dell Inspiron 17" wide screen, Windows XP Pro, iPhone 4gb
Currently Being ModeratedAug 13, 2008 2:41 PM (in response to Courtnej)I have the origina iPhone.
Downloaded 2.0, synced phone with everything UNchecked. Installed 2.0. Synced with all the options checked to reload my data. The iPhone has been great. Noticed a little lag when I opened contacts. Installed the new upgrade, and everything is back, no lag.
Edge is Edge and nothing more. It is slow compared to a strong 3g signal. But is liveable most of the time. Heavy traffic can slow it down to barely usable.
My four wheel drive club has a web site with a large photo section. I was standing out in the middle of parking lot in San Jose, Ca and showing a friend some photos. It opens up a page of small picts to choose from. Select a print and it enlarges, He was amazed at how fast they appeard. Especially given the quantity of photos.MacPro Quad 2.66
